Praising former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri for his simplicity and bringing green revolution in the country, RSS Sarasanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat said there was a need to promote his simplistic ideology to inspire the upcoming generations.
“Throughout his life Shahstriji had worked for the betterment of the nation and his slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” brought massive revolution in the food-grain production in the country,” Bhagwat said while releasing a book “Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri” here. Bhagwat emphasised on the need for adopting the former Prime Minister’s ideology, who, he said, had throughout lived a simple life despite rising to the highest post.
“Shastriji’s leadership quality had inspired many people, who on his call starved once a week to tackle the food-grain shortage problem during his period. His outstanding contribution to the nation can never be forgot,” he said. Bhagwat said that Shastriji in his 18-month tenure as the Prime Minister, brought an immense change in the country and his pragmatic approach even pushed our economy further.
During the function, the former prime minister’s son Anil Shastri was also present, who along with Bhagwat spent nearly an hour at Shastri’s ancestral house in Ramnagar here, where works are underway to restore the house and turning it into a museum.
