a level playing field in elections, Supreme Court on Friday directed the
Election Commission to consult all political parties as soon as possible to
frame guidelines so that they do not announce freebies in their manifestos

2. Separate law needed to govern political parties, says SC : New Delhi
: The Supreme Court Friday asked Parliament to frame a new law to
regulate political parties in the country, as it it held that although freebies

3. Two Cabinet decisions to put 57000cr burden on exchequer : New
Delhi: The next finance minister may have a tough task with two decisions
taken by the UPA government in a fortnight expected to leave an
additional burden of Rs 57,000 crore. The decision to issue an ordinance
to implement the National Food Security Act is expected to cost the
Centre an additional Rs 47,000 crore in 2014-15. This includes the cost of
around Rs 1.25 lakh crore for rolling out the scheme nationally, while
another Rs 12,000 crore would be required for maternity benefits under
