25 Jan 2020, Bengaluru : Yet again, well deserving people have been conferred the Padma awards this year for their exceptional and distinguished service in various fields. The Ministry of Home Affairs released the note to the press. Seven have been conferred the Padma Vibhushan sixteen have been conferred with Padma Bhushan and 118 the Padma Shri. Pejawar Shri who passed away recently was conferred with Padma Vibhooshana award along with Former Defence Minister George Fernandes who also is conferred posthumously, both represented Karnataka.
Hockey player and former Indian captain M P Ganesh, Director of NIMHANS, Bengaluru Dr. Bangalore Nanjundaiah Gangadhar for his service in the field of medicine, Bharat Goenka, the Managing Director of Tally Solutions, Environmentalist from Ankola Tulasi Gowda, Harekala Hajabba a common man and a fruit vendor who devoted himself to start school to impart education, K. V. Sampath Kumar & Ms. Vidushi Jayalakshmi K.S. for their service to Literature and Education-Journalism (editors of Bharat’s sole Samskrita daily called ‘Sudharma’), popular industrialist, and the chairman of one of India’s largest logistics firm Vijayanand Road Lines, Vijay Sankeshwar are the recipients of the Padma Shri awards from Karnataka.
