Nagpur: RSS Sarasanghachalak Mohan Bhagwat recently visited Nagpur Veterinary College (NVC) where did his Masters in Veterinary Science, attended the Alumni Meet-2016 as the Chief Guest. The Alumni meet was held on April 25, 2016. Mohan Bhagwat shared his memories of student days on the occasion.
Mohan Bhagwat was a Pos-Graduate student of the then Government Veterinary College Nagpur, did his Masters study during 1974-1975.
Dr Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Union Minister (state) Agriculture and FPIs, Dr Umeshchandra Sharma, President of Veterinary Council of India, Nitish Bharadwaj Former MP, Prof AK Mishra Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Science University, Nagpur Dr NP Dakshinkar, NVC dean, Alumni Association Executives Dr Sandeep Ingle, Dr SB Sahatpure, Dr AP Gawande, Dr Manoj Salpekar and other prominent dignitaries attended the event.
Addressing the NVC alumni meet Mohan Bhagwat was as nostalgic as anyone else about his college and memories. The portrait of his anatomy teacher and hostel warden — Prof M K Hawaldar — brought back memories of how each hostel inmate would open anatomy books, and pose as if reading them, merely to appease the warden, who was apparently very strict. “I don’t understand why we were so scared of him since he was a very humane and soft person. But the moment his vehicle entered the hostel premises, we would be on our beds or chair,” he said.
Mohan Bhagwat also narrated anecdotes about teachers at that time. He admitted that he owed all his good qualities and his personality to them, and the activities in the college. Besides academics, sports and cultural activities made him the person he is today, he said. He had to abandon his post graduation due to Emergency imposed in the country in 1975. Mohan Bhagwat also shared memories of his first job as veterinary officer at Chamorshi.
