August 15, 2023: Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, Sarasanghachalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh hoisted the national flag at Bengaluru on the occasion of 77th Independence Day organized by Samartha Bharata, a social NGO of the State at Vasavi Convention Hall, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru. Along with Sarasanghachalak, Dattatreya Hosabale, Sarakaryavah of RSS and Dr. S N Omkar, Scientist and renowned Yogaguru took part in the Independence Day celebration.
Dr. Mohan Bhagwat wished the gathering on the occasion of Independence Day. Speaking on the occasion, he said we worship the Sun, hence we are called Bharat, in which Bha signifies Light. Surya Aradhana is a meaningful event on the occasion of Independence Day. Bharat attained independence to enlighten the world. Swa-Trantra refers to the meaning of ‘Etad Desha Prasutasya Sakashadagrajanmanah Swam swam charitran shiksheran prithivyam Sarva manavah’. Need of Bharat to the world, for which, understanding the national flag and admiring knowledge is required.
Describing the national flag Sarasanghachalakji said, we need to lead the life in the direction of Tamasoma Jyotirgamaya with sacrifice and continuous work which is signified by saffron on the top of the tri-colour. These need to be done by removing selfishness and work for everyone with purity, signified by white in the middle of the flag, as a result of saffron. When these are done, Green characterizing the Sri Lakshmi will help attaining the abundance in intellectual, spiritual, exalted and selfless strength. These are the unceasing messages given by the national flag.
In order to enlighten the world, Bharat needs to be capable. In case we are not, it will be because of the trouble created by breaking forces which are active. But we need to be alert, cautious and work on the basis of message given by the national flag and bring the nation together such that breaking forces are not successful. On a positive way, we need to teach the world on the basis of Knowledge, Action, Devotion, Purity and Abundance.
Our ancestors started the struggle for Independence in 1857, fought for 90 years and finally achieved independence on 15th August 1947. Dr. Mohan Bhagwat further said, Freedom is a continuous process and based on these three messages of tri-colour, our Nation needs to go forward and lead the world.
Coinciding with 77th Independence Day celebration, Samartha Bharata conducted a whole day Surya namaskar programme signifying the importance of Healthy Mind, Body, Nation. Lauding Yoga in Bharatiya culture and its relevance in the present time, Hundreds of volunteers and yoga enthusiasts performed Surya namaskar in series of batches held from morning to evening.

Samartha Bharata has conducted various social service programmes such as large-scale sapling plantation, Health Care programmes in slum areas, Be Good, Do-Good youth campaigns aimed at awakening youth towards nation’s progress etc.
