Dr HR Vishwas, Samskrita Bharati
New Delhi/Bangalore September 4: Noted Samskrit scholar and Samsktit Bharati’s Akhil Bharatiya Prashikshana Pramukh , Dr HR Vishwas to receive reputed Kendra Sahitya Academy’s ‘Bala Sahitya Puraskar’ award for the year 2013.
Dr Vishwas to receive this award in a programme at Panaji of Goa on November 15th. The award includes a cash prize worth Rs 50,000.
SECOND TIME !
In 2010, Samsktit Bharati’s Akhil Bharatiya Prashikshana Pramukh Dr Vishwas Mangalore was awarded the reputed Kendra Sahitya Academy Award for Translation. He received the award of 2010 for translating well known litterateur Dr SL Bhairappa’s mo st debated Kannada novel ‘Avarana’ to Samskrit.
Dr Vishwas is considered to be one amongst top contemporary analyst of Samskrit literature in India. He travelled several states of India and abroad mainly for the better canvas of Samskrit literature. He has authored several books like ‘Matte Hottitu Heebru Hanate’, ‘Apashchimaha pashchime’ ‘Pididu Samskrita Sootrava’ ‘Hemacchakatika’ etc in Samskrit and in Kannada. Also he authored few Samskrtit manual books for the Public learning of Samskrit. ‘Koushala Bhodhinee’ is a popular handbook for Samskrit tutors across the globe with creative teaching skills. His weekly column ‘Sangata’ in Hosadiganta a Kannada Daily and His Telivision Interaction Programmes in DD-Bharati was popular among elite audience. With hundereds of speeches and articles, Dr Vishwas became a noted Samskrit intellectual. He served in syllabus committee for Text Books in Samskrit for Class 5,6 and 7 of Govt of Karnataka.
Hails from Sringeri of Chikmagalur district of Karnataka, Dr Vishwas now settled in Mangalore. Wife Dr Shantala, also works for Samskrit Bharati, spreading Sanskrit throughout the world. Their interest in this language also brought them together. According to a friend of Dr Vishwas, the purpose of their marriage is also to propagate and save Sanskrit. At present they are both actively involved in the Samskrit Bharathi Organization, which is devoted to promote Samskrit. Their two children Vidisha and Vidhita also speak fluent Samskrit for all domestic communications as their mother tongue.
