Chennai December 07, 2012: A State level Committee was inaugurated to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda at Maharishi Vidya Mandir School, Chennai last week. Dr.G Viswanathan, Founder & C
hancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology, Former Member of Parliament, Former Minister, Government of Tamilnadu will be the President of Swami Vivekananda 150th Birth Celebration Committee of Tamilnadu.
Inaugurating the function, Dr. G Viswanathan said, “When I was young, I was attracted by two persons one is Arignar Anna and the other is Swami Vivekananda. Swami Ji’s thoughts should reach each and every youth. Today the younger generation needs a direction to which this Birth Centenary Celebrations will pave a way. Even-though I was a Member of Parliament in DMK- political party, I feel proud to say that I sent my son to RSS Shaka. It is because the discipline, obedience and patriotism needed for the younger generation are taught here only. I also had a very good opportunity to have two-three hours discussion on all subjects with Sri Guruji while travelling in plane…. This committee will work under such commitment that the messages of Swami Vivekananda are carried to everyone”.
Sister Nivedita, Vice President of Vivekananda Kendra Organisation elaborated the means in which Celebrations to be held. She explained about the 5 areas through which Swamiji’s message will be taken through – Prabudha Bharat, Yuva Bharat, Samvardhini, Gramaayan and Asmitha. Smt. Thangam Meganathan, President of Rajalakshmi Group of Institutions was present in the dias. The Committee has 127 members which includes 16 saints.
Prominent Educationists and reformers in various fields namely Isari Ganesh of Vels College, Krishna Paraiyanar, State President of Ambedkar Makkal Sakthi Iyakkam, Sri Kanakaraj, Director of Jaya Group of Institutions, Va.Ve.Su, Former Principal of Vivekananda College, Swami Mitrananda of Chinmaya Mission, Dr. Lakshmi, Principal of Meenakshi College, Dr. Subramaniam President of Private Engineering Colleges Association, Dr. Joseph Raj, Family Doctor of Sri APJ Abdul Kalam (Former President of India) of Ramanathapuram, Rajangam, President of Madurai – President of Nomadic Tribals Association, Kothagiri Alwar President of Tribals Associaition, Sri Govindasamy, Yelagiri Panchayat President, Paavai Natarajan, Paavai Engineering College, Dr. Arthanari-Gokul Hospitals, Salem and Principals of various Schools participated in the function.
RSS functionaries Sri Kumaraswamy, Pranth Karyawah (Uttar Tamilnadu), Sri Sambamurthi, Sah Pranth Karyawah (Uttar Tamilnadu), Sri Bakthavatsalam Pranth Pracharak (Uttar Tamilnadu), Sri Aadalarasan Pranth Karyawah (Dakshin Tamilnadu), Sri Kesava Vinayakam, Pranth Pracharak (Dakshin Tamilnadu) were present during the occasion. Sri Rajan, Pranth Sampark Pramukh will be the General Secretary of the Committee.
