Chennai December 05: On the eve of Karthika Poornima on Friday evening, RSS Sarakaryavah Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi joined the Karthika Deepam celebrations. Suresh Joshi lit the lamp in a small programme arranged at Sastra University Campus, Thanjavur along with Sri Gunavatsan, Sethu Madhavan, Vanniyarajan, Kshetra Sanghachalak, other Sangh functionaries and karyakarthas.
Karthigai Poornima is celebrated in Tamilnadu in a grand manner by lighting up of lamps. Rows of Agal vilakkus are lit in every house. It is believed to ward off evil forces and usher in prosperity. Karthigai Deepam in Lord Arunachaleswarar temple, Tiruvannamalai – a ten day festival is very famous. Huge fire lamp is lit up on the hill which is visible for several kilometers around.
