Bengaluru September 09, 2016: SAKSHAMA Karnataka concluded its Cornea Andhatv Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (CAMBA), the National Eye Donation Awareness fortnight, on September 08, 2016. Began on August 24, 2016 the two week long eye donation campaign concluded at an event held at Nitte Meenakshi Engineering College Yelahanka where more than 500 students participated in the event.
The concluding began with a blindfold walk by college students and staff from main gate till the Auditorium. After blindfold walk, formal stage function was held at NMIT Auditorium. Sri Govindaraju, Commissioner and Director of Dept. Of. Empowerment of Different Abled and Senior citizens, Govt of Karnataka was chief guest for this event and in his speech Sri Govindaraju highlighted the importance of involvement of youth in brining awareness in common people about eye donation. He also shared his experience and shared different government initiatives towards elimination of corneal blindness and appreciated SAKSHAMA’s vision of complete elimination of corneal blindness by 2020 through their CAMBA – “Cornea Andhatv Mukth Bharath Abhiyana” campaign.
Sri. Dr. N.R.Shetty, Advisor – Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology presided over this function. In his presidential address Dr. N R Shetty expressed his happiness to conduct such a event with social cause at their institute on National Eye Donation Awareness day Sep 8th. He extended his support for SAKSHAMA in organizing such events. Dr Nagaraju Principal, NMIT was on stage. Sri Harikrishna Rai SAKSHAMA State Joint Secretary in his key note session breifed on eye donation importance and clarified audience on myths and facts of eye donation. He explained the concept of Sight Ambassador and requested all students become sight ambassador which involves responsibility of convincing the diseased family on incident of death and connecting them with eye bank for successful eye donation. Sri. Manjunath Bhide, SAKSHAMA Member gave overview of CAMBA project and goals and objectives of CAMBA. Finally all participants pledged their eyes by sending SMS to SAKSHAMA. NSS unit of NMIT and volunteers of NMIT coordinated this event.

ವಿಶೇಷ ಚೇತನರ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸಂಘಟನೆ-ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಇವರ ಕರೆಯ ಮೇರೆಗೆ ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗದಲ್ಲೂ ಕಾರ್ನಿಯ ಅಂಧತ್ವ ಮುಕ್ತ ಭಾರತ ಅಭಿಯಾನವನ್ನು ಸಮದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಕ್ಷಮತಾ ವಿಕಾಸ ಮತ್ತು ಅನುಸಂಧಾನ ಮಂಡಲ ಇವರ ವತಿಯಿಂದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಿಂದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ನೇತ್ರದಾನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅರಿವು ಮೂಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ದಿನಾಂಕ : ೦೮.೦೯.೨೦೧೬ರ ಗುರುವಾರದಂದು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆಯಿಂದ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದವರೆಗೂ ಗೋಪಿವೃತ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಕ್ಷಮದ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಂಘಟನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯರಾಂ, ಶಾರದಾದೇವಿ ಅಂಧರ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು, ಖ್ಯಾತ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಹೆಚ್.ವಿ.ಸುಬ್ರಹ್ಮಣ್ಯ, ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ರಕ್ಷಣಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಅಭಿನವ್ ಖರೆ, ವಿಶ್ವಹಿಂದೂ ಪರಿಷತ್ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ರಮೇಶ್ ಬಾಬು, ಖ್ಯಾತ ಕೈಗಾರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮಿಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ಎಸ್.ರುದ್ರೇಗೌಡ, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಪ್ರಕೋಷ್ಠ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಚಾಲಕರಾದ ಡಾ|| ದಯಾನಂದ್, ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕ ಸಂಘದ ಸಂಘಚಾಲಕ್ ಶ್ರೀ ವೆಂಕಟೇಶ್ ಸಾಗರ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರೆ ಗಣ್ಯರು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ೧೦೯ ಜನರು ಸ್ವಯಂ ನೇತ್ರದಾನದ ನೊಂದಣಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದರು.
