Mysore,Sep 28 (PTI) Udupi Pejawar Mutt Seer Vishweshatheertha Swamiji today asked people to fight against corruption and exploitation. Inaugurating this year’s Dasara festival atop the Chamundi hills, the septugenarian seer appealed to people to be aware of these two “maladies” before they assume greater proportions and destroy the fabric of society.
Referring to state’s history and tradition, the seer said it preached universal brotherhood transcending all narrow boundaries of religion, caste and creed. Dasara or Navarathri is not confined to Karnataka alone but is a national festival which symbolises the victory of good over evil,he said. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda recounted the message of integration by the famous Kannada poet Channaveera Kanavi. Earlier the Chief Minister, who was accompanied by his wife, was given a warm welcome amid vedic chants. After going round the temple, Gowda offered pooja to Goddess Chamundeshwari in the sanctum sanctorum.
