Jigani Bengaluru June 14: Pledged to make their village self-reliant, giving priority youth and women empowerment, and to eradicate the social ailments like alcoholism, untouchability etc; the 3-day RSS inspired GRAAMA SANGAMA concluded successfully at the premises of Prashanti Kuteeram in Jigani of Bengaluru on Sunday noon.

A total of 1819 participants pledged to work for the Graam Vikas (comprehensive rural development) attended this 3 day conclave, includes 1285 men and 534 women from 15 districts of Southern Karnataka. 251 Prabandhaks, 49 Adhikari’s and Guests were part of Graama Sangama. Among Taluks, Kollegala taluk had highest participation of 176 members. Among Jilla’s, Puttur was represented by a maximum with 204 participants, among vibhag, Mysuru had participation of 600. Women participation was highest from Mandya, with 90 women attending this 3-day conclave.

Lets pledge for the upliftment of our village: Dr Dinesh

In his key note address, Dr Dinesh, Akhil Bharatiya Samyojak of Gram Vikas Vibhag, said ” The success rural development of the villages can happen because of the presence 3 major factors, which is already there in rural Karnataka. First, the Matrushakti. In our nation 99% Matrushakti (Women) is vyasan mukt.(freem from drug addictions). Women participation in social activities of the village like Matrumandali, Deepa-Poojan etc should be promoted. Second, the Dharmik Shkati. In Karnataka through various religious institutes like Pejawar Matha, Siddaganga Matha etc, a major social transformation has been achieved. Third, the Kisan Shakti (Farmers). With a life which is mutually intertwined with the nature here (Prakruti ke sath Samanvay, iske saath Samajik Chetana), will be part of social awakening. Graam is not just a place with has a geographical boundary, but is a place of values, rich in traditions and culture. Lets pledge for the upliftment of our villages” said Dr Dinesh.

Change within first, then bring a change in Society: Mukunda CR
RSS Akhil Bharatiya Sah Bouddhik Pramukh, Mukunda CR in his valedictory address, said “Each village should be self-reliant. The rural development not merely done by outsiders or the govt projects. The Villagers should take self initiative to imbue works focusing on upliftment of the own village.”
“We have to take self leadership for new activities and new projects in our village. If already some projects aiming rural development is are running, then should plan as how to improve the quality of that work to bring comprehensive social transformation in the village. There are examples of few villages, where villagers took initiatives to reduce theft in their village.” he said.
“As individuals we have to transform first, to bring any social transformation. We should learn to work in a team. Each individuals have specific capabilities. If worked together, then bringing the transformation will be easier. So, individually contributing and also working with a team to, we need to work for the betterment of the village’ concluded Mukunda CR.

Don’t poison the mother earth: Farmer’s request

The 3-day event was completely ORGANIC in its action. All food commodities used were completely organic, grown and contributed by Organic farmers from Karnataka. The Bhagawadwaj used in the conclave was made from purely organic cotton, natural colours were used. The event was ecofriendly, wasplastic-free. During the valedictory session, the organic farmers who contributed organic crops, grains for the conclave, were thanked by the organisers. A senior organic farmer urged the participants to grow and promote organic farming and to completely stop the usage of chemical fertilisers. Please stop poisoning the mother earth, he urged.

V Nagaraj, RSS Kshetreeya Sanghachalak, Dr P Vaman Shenoy, RSS Sah-Pranth Sanghachalak, N Tippeswamy, RSS Pranth Karyavah were present on the dais along with Dr Dinesh and Mukunda CR.

RSS Senior functionaries Dusi Ramakrishna Rao, Shyam Kumar, Gopal Chettiyar, Sridhar Sagar, Sudhir, Guruprasad, Prof Sreedhar Swamy, Pattabhirama,  Gururaj and others were present on the occasion.
