Bangalore Dec 07, 2012: First of its kind in the world, a two day global gathering of Hindu Womens, ‘World Hindu Women’s Conference’, to be held at Bangalore on December 29 and 30, 2012.
Organised by Hindu Women Forum of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the World HINDU Women’s Conferencewill be held at NMKRV college auditorium Bangalore. The event has a theme of Increasing the role of women in the Hindu Renaissance.
The aim of the Hindu Women Forum is to providing encouragement, support for the development of leadership qualities within Hindu women so that they can assume leadership positions in the Hindu resurgence and renaissance. The mission of HWF is to restore a focus on Hindu issues around the world by building a supportive Hindu Sisterhood that will be rooted in the transformation of the heart of Hindu culture and civilization for the global Hindu resurgence and renaissance.
Hindu women comprise approximately 50% of the global Hindu population, and are playing an increasingly important role around the globe in many important fields ranging from business and science to politics and culture Although not heavily mentioned in history textbooks or the popular discourse, Hindu women have played a pivotal role in sustaining as well as protecting Hindu Dharma. Examples of Hindu women ranging from the great sovereigns and warriors like Rani Durgawati, Rani Ahilyabai Holkar, Rani Chinamma, Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi, Rani Avantibai, etc. to great teachers such as Madalsa to Mata Jijabai to great devotees like Andal Devi, Mira Bai, Laleshwari, Kannagi, etc. to great activists and revolutionaries like Sister Nivedita, Durga Bhabhi, Preetilata etc. have courageously stepped forward to provide critical and vital support to Hindu society. Unfortunately, the role of Hindu women in the Hindu resurgence has largely gone unnoticed and unacknowledged. Furthermore, the number of women participating particularly in leadership positions in the recent Hindu resurgence has declined to an unacceptable level. This has led to the talents and abilities of approximately half of the global Hindu population being neglected and unutilized. In order to reverse this disturbing trend, the Hindu Women Forum has been created to mobilise Hindu women. The Hindu Women Forum strongly believes in the power and potential of Hindu women. HWF seeks to bring Hindu women from diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and professions that can support each other in all aspects of human endeavor as well as advocating the Hindu perspective from neighborhoods to college campuses to the wider society.
