Bengaluru August 25, 2016: SAKSHAMA, an RSS inspired pan-India organization working for the empowerment of physically challenged and differently abled people, is launched public awareness campaign, “Cornea Andhatv-Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” (CAMBA) to promote awareness about eye donation.

This fortnight long eye donation awareness campaign, started today 25th August will conclude on to 8th September, will be held with various programs are being organized throughout Karnataka.

On Sunday,28th August, RSS Swayamsevaks will visit the homes of general public in many locations in their respective districts, will spread awareness about corneal blindness and eye donation among the people in those locations.

Launch ceremony at Bengaluru: SAKSHAMA Karnataka formally launched National Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight event today at T-John Group of Institution, Bengaluru as part of its Cornea Andhatv Mukht Bharath Abhiyan (CAMBA) project and ignited young minds of hundreds of students with importance of eye donation and problems related to corneal blindness our country facing.

Chief Guest Dr. Divya Consultant Ophthalmologist, Nethradhama Eye Hospital along with other guests on stage formally launched the National Eye Donation Awareness by displaying the gave brief presentation on eye donation and explained the myths and facts of eye donation. Another special guest, Dr. Bijoy Mishra, Principal & Professor – TIMS – T.John Group of Institutions extended his full cooperation in future for increasing the eye donation awareness and conducting eye screening camps by involving students in large number. Sri. Vinod Prakash R, Sakshama Karnataka State General Secretary in his key note speech highlighted importance and significance of CAMBA project in the context National Eye Donation Awareness Fortnight and enlightened students on their roles to reaching the goals of Corneal blindness free Bharath. In his presidential address, Sri. Vijaykumar, Rtd. AGM -ING Vysa , SAKSHAMA Karnataka state President emphasized on the challenges we are facing related to inaccurate statistics on actual numbers of corneal blindness people in India by dedicated survey and also lack of infrastructure in setting eye banks in all districts and bringing awareness in citizen to donate eyes instead of burning eyes which gives opportunity to blind people to see light in their life. Connecting corneal donors to recipients and increasing number of eye donations and making successful eye donation by improving infrastructure in India is present need of the hour. Program finally concluded with blindfold walk by T.John Management and Science students where hundreds of students walked around campus and main roads by closing their eyes and raising slogans on eye donation to bring awareness among public.

During this Fortnight from Aug 25th Sep 5th, SAKSHAMA Sakshama Karnataka will conducting various programs across Karnataka state in all districts, taluks and villages to reach every citizens to bring awareness on eye donation by door to door campaign and also conducting several events like

1. Rally with School Students, Rally with College Students, Rally with Elders, Human chains.
2. Blindfold Walk
3. Awareness programs in Schools, Colleges, Walkers Club, pensioners club, caste and religious associations, NGOs and other social organisations.
4. Discussion in Public Forum, Public Meeting, Street Corner Meeting, Gate meetings.
5. Drama, Skits, Plays
6. Essay Writing, Elocution, Art, Painting, Etc.
7. Conduction of Cricket, Chess, Etc. for Blind
8. Honouring families, where eyes were donated.
9. Involving Local Government, Swamijis, Celebrities, Intellectuals, etc.
10. Mike Announcements, local TV channels, Social media.
11. Cycle Rally, Bike Rally, etc.
12. Involving and motivating committees of Mortuaries, Ambulances, Dead Body transportation systems, pandits who perform funeral rites.

Sakshama Karnataka formally launching this event this morning 11am at T.John Group Institution campus including 200+ students of Management students and college staff, after formal launch students will conduct blindfold walk around campus and Bannerghatta main road to bring awareness among public. After this Launch event we have already planned several event almost every day in different institutions, government offices, apartment societies, public places, malls, temples etc.

On March 5, 2016 RSS Sarakaryavah Suresh Bhaiyyaji Joshi inaugurated Cornea Andhatv Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (CAMBA), a new initiative by RSS inspired NGO for Blinds, SAKSHAMA on Saturday at New Delhi. The event was held as a part of commemoration of 110th Birth Anniversary of Guruji Golwaklar, who was the second Sarasanghachalak of RSS. Union Minister Dr JP Nadda, Delhi Pranth Sanghachalak Kulbhushan Ahuja, other prominent functionaries attended the event.
