Bangalore June 19: RSS Pracharak – noted writer Chandrashekar Bhandari received Karnataka Govt’s PUSTAKA BAHUMAANA (Anuvada) award for the year 2011 from minister Umashree in Bangalore on June 19, 2014.

Chandrashekar Bhandari received the State govt award from ‘Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati Pradhikara’ for his translated book “Samajika Kranti Soorya Dr Babasahed Ambedkar” whcih was originally written in Marathi by well-known social reformer Dattopant Thengadi.

The award distribution ceremony was held at Suvarna Samskritika Samucchaya of Kalagrama, Jnana Bharati, Behind Bangalore University on June 19th Thursday organised by Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati Pradhikara of Government of Karnataka.

Minister for Kannada language and culture Umashree awarded the Pustaka Bahumana (Anuvada); which includes a cash prize of Rs 10,000, Certificate, mementos and other honorary gifts. Dr SN Sridhar of Centre for India Studies, State University of Newyork was the Chief Guest on the occasion. President of Kuvempu Bhasha Bharati Pradhikara KV Narayana, Director of Kannada and Culture department KA Dayananda were present on the dais along with other awardees.

Sanskrita Bharati’s Janardhana Hegade also received the State award for his translation works between Kannada and Sanskrit for his various books for the year 2011-12.

79 year old veteran writer Chandrashekar Bhandari is known for his great contributions for RSS and related publications. He has penned several book, authored several translated books, hundreds of articles, has composed several patriotic poems. Among his poems, ‘Dharegavatariside Swargada spardhiyu sundara taynelavu’, (ಧರೆಗವತರಿಸಿದೆ ಸ್ವರ್ಗದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಯು ಸುಂದರ ತಾಯ್ನೆಲವು) was selected by state govt and adapted as a patriotic song for upper primary schools. He has spent almost 54 years as RSS Pracharak, serving the society, now has the responsibility of  Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishat for Karnataka. About the book: 

An 111th Publication of Rashtrotthanna Sahitya

A prominent book by Sri Dattopant Thengadi, who was in close contact Dr Ambedkar. The Kannada version of the book, translated by Shri Chandrashekara Bhandari created a record in the history of Kannada book publication.  A  major book in Kannada on Dr Ambedkar entitled SAMAAJIKA KRAANTI SOORYA, ‘ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿ ಸೂರ್ಯ’  was released on October 22nd, Saturday 2011 at Bangalore and also in other 9 cities, Kolar, Tumkur, Mysore, Chikamagalur,  Mangalore, Shimoga, Davanagere, Dharwad and Kalburgi. Within one month, the book of 580 pages priced at Rs 400, witnessed a sale of 4000 copies. Sri Murugharajendra Swamiji of Chitradurga, Sri Vishwesha Theertha of Pejawara Matha, Vice-Chancellors Dr Lakkappa Gowda, Dr Walikar, Eminent Dalit academician Prof PL Dharma, Dr M Mahadeva, Dr Abhaya Kumar, social workers Sri Dattatreya Hosabale, MC Jayadeva, Dada Idate of Mumbai, Dr Suvarna Rawal, writer Dr GB Harish and Chandrashekhar Bhandari, the translator of the book participated in various programmes of the book release. Together, in all the 10 programmes, more than 400 noted writers, professors, social entrepreneurs belonging to Dalit community participated.
