Bengaluru Dec 21:  Karnataka Unit of ‘SAKSHAMA’, an RSS inspred forum for visually disabled, organized Birth centenary celebrations of Gaana yogi Sri. Pandith Puttaraja Gawayi and Sri. Yadavarao Joshi on Dec 21st, 2014, 10.30AM at Sheshadripuram college auditorium, Bangalore. Program was inaugurated by lighting lamp by Smt. N. Shanthakumari, Mayor, BBMP, Bangalore. In her inaugural she remembered great work from two great eminent personalities. She emphasized that physical constraint s should not be barriers for challenged communities  for excelling in any fields by giving examples of life of pandith puttaraja Gawayi how he become role model who was blind but still excelled in musical world.

Chief guest Pandith M. Venkatesh Kumar, great hindusthani singer and one of the disciples of Pandith Puttaraja recalled his memories during his musical study with Pandith Puttaraja Gawayi. Another chief guest Sri. Pa. Ra. Krishna Murthy, Akhila bharath sanghatana saha-karydarshi , Chennai spoke about social contributions of Sri. Yadavarao Joshi. In this program another chief guest, Prof. Nilugal Kannada Head of Department at S.Nijalingappa  college, Bangalore narrated biography of Pandith Puttaraja Gawayi from his research study.

On this occasion, SAKSHAMA honored international swimmer Sri. Sharath Gayakwad who excelled inspite of physical challenges. SAKSHAMA also offered financial assistance to one of the visually impaired student, Miss. Vanitha. Program was presided over by Sri. K. V. Rajanna, President of SAKSHAMA Karnataka state unit. Sri. Vinodh Praksash, State general secretary was master of ceremony and finally stage program was concluded with vote of thanks from Sri. Harikrishna Rai, joint secretary of Sakshama Karnataka.

Post lunch session, musical drama was performed by great lyricist and film script writer Sri. Goturi and team about life history of Puttaraja Gawayi. This had been followed by a Hindustani musical concert by Pandith M. Venkatesh Kumar. Finally this musical salutation to pandith puttaraja Gawayi was concluded with Carnatic musical concert by Sri Deva Reddy, Smt. Asha Jagadish and Smt. Hamsini Nagendra.

This great event was witnessed by hundreds of participants from different districts of Karnataka including persons with disabilities.

SAKSHAMA, is a National organization working for the all-round development of all kinds of persons with disabilities. SAKSHAMA conducted a mega event today where it celebrated birth centenary of Ganayogi Pandith Puttaraja Gawayi and Janamanashilpi Sri Yadavarao Joshi along with World disable’s day.
